Introducing Experience This Podcast

Every person has a story. From friends, colleagues, the people we pass on our commute or see in the grocery store, to the people we scroll past on our phones or see in the news.

We’re all products of our experiences. From our day to day interactions to big life changing events, these moments are shaped by the world around us.

With each episode, we meet people where they’re at, hear their stories in their own voices. We want to show the vantage points of individuals based on their experiences. We dive into perspectives in hopes of making you, the listener, introspective.

From outer space to public space, from social media to societal labels, we share stories about the human experience, and how design and technology impact society.

Transcript

KAY RADZIK: This is a really cool story, and it really changed my life. I mean, I had never experienced what it’s like to be this little spec in the cosmos.

JOSHUA CROKE: Every person has a story. From friends, colleagues, the people we pass on our commute or see in the grocery store, to the people we scroll past on our phones or see in the news.

MAJORA CARTER: Other than the news report that I saw, showing that it was really horrible, that at one point it was bad, and then all these people being interviewed and going, “Who came into our community doing this to us?”

JOSHUA CROKE: We’re all products of our experiences. From our day to day interactions, to big life changing events, these moments are shaped by the world around us.

AMAN KANWAR: Have I made my friends really uncomfortable taking a photo of me in front of like a jam packed full restaurant while I’m sitting there occupying the entire space with a rosé in my hand and a pink background? Yes, I have.

COREY CAMPERCHIOLI: Walking in there and saying like, “This is me, I think I’m a star, I’m ready to really audition.” And her saying like, “You’re too gay, you’ll never work.”

JOSHUA CROKE: With each episode, we meet people where they’re at, hear their stories in their own voices. We want to show the vantage points of individuals based on their experiences. We dive into perspectives in hopes of making you, the listener, introspective.

NIKKI BELL: When you’re leaving and you have literally the clothes on your back, and you’re homeless, like how do you get a job when you don’t have a place to live right? And how do you go to work when you don’t have any clean clothes to put on?

ROB FLAX: He said, “What was it that you do?” I said, “I’m a musician.” And he said, “Oh, music eh? Music is like a knife.” I said, “Excuse me?” “Yeah, music is like a knife.”

JOSHUA CROKE: From outer space to public space, from social media to societal labels, we share stories about the human experience, and how design and technology impact society.

KATE WEISER: We start hiking, it’s been like 30 minutes, and we see some people walk past us and we’re like, “Oh, how much farther?” And they’re like, “three, four hours.” I’m starting to see headlines in my head of: “Two girls killed by the infinity pools.”

JESSE HAVEA:  I have a microphone in my hand every single night of the week. And so when I say something on the mic, these people pay attention. You’re going to listen to a 6’4” man in a dress.

JOSHUA CROKE: This is Experience This Podcast.
